The PTA Audit/ Financial Review
Each PTA or PTSA unit is responsible for conducting an annual financial audit/review. This is also an annual Healthy Unit in Good Standing (HUGS) requirement.
When is the PTA audit or financial review done?
- The audit can be conducted with 3 unit members who are not currently signers or related to signers on the PTA bank account.
- The audit can also be conducted by a qualified accountant.
When is the PTA audit or financial review done?
- Anytime there is a change in the office of the treasurer. The new treasurer should not take control or responsibility for the books and financial records until and audit has taken place.
- Anytime their are inconsistencies, suspicions, or red flags regarding the unit's finances.
- The audit is done after the close of the unit's fiscal year. If the unit fiscal year is July 1st to June 30th, then the audit can take place after June 30th. Summer is a great time to take care of the unit's annual audit/financial review.
